10 Tips for Keeping Yourself Safe from the Flu Virus

Flu season is upon us, and it’s important to take the necessary steps to protect yourself and your family from the virus. Here are 10 tips for keeping yourself safe from the flu virus:

1. Get a flu vaccine – Getting a flu shot is one of the best ways to protect yourself from getting sick. Make sure you get vaccinated each year, as the strains of influenza can change from year to year.

2. Wash your hands often – Washing your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds can help reduce your risk of getting sick with the flu or other illnesses.

3. Avoid close contact with people who are sick – If someone in your household is sick, try to keep them in a separate room and avoid sharing items such as utensils, dishes, and towels with them until they have been symptom-free for at least 24 hours.

4. Cover your mouth when you sneeze or cough – Coughing or sneezing into a tissue or your elbow instead of directly into the air can help reduce spreading germs that could make others sick.

5. Disinfect surfaces regularly – Cleaning frequently touched surfaces such as doorknobs, light switches, countertops, and remote controls can help reduce the spread of germs that cause illness like influenza.

6. Stay home if you’re feeling ill – If you start feeling any symptoms associated with flu-like fever, chills, body aches or fatigue it’s best to stay home until you feel better so that you don’t spread germs to other people around you who could get very ill if they catch it too!
If possible work remotely if possible while recovering from an illness like this so that others aren't exposed either!

7. Eat healthy foods – Eating nutritious foods such as fruits and vegetables helps support a healthy immune system which helps fight off infections like colds and flus more effectively than those who don't eat well balanced meals every day!

8 Drink plenty of fluids– Staying hydrated helps flush out toxins in our bodies which makes us less susceptible to catching illnesses like colds & flus by keeping our bodies functioning optimally!

9 Get enough sleep– Getting adequate restful sleep every night helps keep our immune systems strong so we are more able to fight off any potential viruses we may come across during our daily lives!

10 Reduce stress– Stress weakens our immune systems making us more susceptible to getting sick so taking time out for ourselves each day whether through meditation yoga exercise etc can really help reduce stress levels & improve overall health & wellbeing too!
