Iron Deficiency Anemia

Iron deficiency anemia is a condition in which the body does not have enough healthy red blood cells due to a lack of iron. Iron is necessary to make hemoglobin, the component of red blood cells that carries oxygen throughout the body. Without enough iron, the body cannot produce enough hemoglobin, leading to anemia. Symptoms of iron deficiency anemia include fatigue, pale skin, shortness of breath, dizziness, headaches and cold hands and feet.
