Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic, progressive neurological disorder that affects the central nervous system. It is caused by damage to the myelin sheath, the protective covering that surrounds nerve cells, resulting in disruption of communication between the brain and other parts of the body. Symptoms may include numbness and tingling in limbs, vision problems, muscle weakness, difficulty with coordination and balance, fatigue and cognitive issues. Treatment typically involves medications to reduce inflammation and slow disease progression as well as physical therapy to help manage symptoms.
