How to Exercise Safely with Heart Failure



Exercising with heart failure can be intimidating, but it is important for overall health and wellness. It is important to check with your doctor before starting any exercise program. Here are some tips to help you stay safe while exercising with heart failure:

1. Start Slow: When beginning an exercise program, start slow and gradually increase the intensity and duration of your workouts as your body adjusts. This will help reduce the risk of overexertion or injury.

2. Monitor Your Heart Rate: Make sure to monitor your heart rate during exercise and stop if it gets too high or too low. Your doctor can provide guidance on what a safe target heart rate should be for you based on your individual condition.

3. Choose Low-Impact Exercises: High-impact exercises such as running or jumping may be too strenuous for someone with heart failure, so opt for low-impact activities such as walking, swimming, or biking instead.
